Each of us has the need for a conditioning method that not only guards against injury but allows us to excel in anaerobic events (running, fighting, intense or sustained work) that are vital aspects of everyday tasks as well as demanding professions. That linked anaerobic efforts including weightlifting (as functional movements) contribute to our aerobic fitness is what is often lost on the general public. Some would call this more like ancestral fitness. It is truly training for life.
I've attended the following CrossFit Certs:
Coaches Prep Course
Level 2 - original
Olympic Weightlifting - Burgener
Barbell - Rippetoe
Endurance - Mackenzie
POSE Running - Romanov
Nutrition - Wolf
Science of Exercise - Glassman, J., Kilgore, Rippetoe
Striking - Ryan
Swimming - Nabeta/Michelmore
I had the opportunity to attend the early CrossFit Games, competing in 2007 and 2008 and directed the Medical support for several of the CF Games. Our affiliate (CF Marina along with CF Brand X) administered the 2009, 2010 and 2011 Southwest Regional Qualifier for the CrossFit Games.
The challenge has been made by the CrossFit community worldwide: If you can find a better method of conditioning for general physical preparedness, use it. It's my hope that we can provide the best means for you to develop both your fitness and health with the best of this method, whether through GPP or other sport-specific or work related application.
