Bless our country and all our family and friends in her services. We want all you home safe and soon. And Paresh finish your damn Burpees...
We are closed until the evening WOD on Monday the 7th.
We're reporting live in beautiful Aromas, doing the advance party thing. The Thrusters and Pull Ups will be on the north side of the barn. The Deadlift/Burpee WOD will be on the east side of the barn on nice thick pads (in shade in the late afternoon). The hill is U-G-L-Y...
see the photo. At least the run is not a 5K!
We'll hopefully be helping with set up in the morning. Call either of us if you need anything on this end. The best route up here is NB I5 to WB SR 46 to NB 101; once you get through Salinas, then Prunedale (yeah, Prunedale) start looking for the sign that says "CrossFit Games 1 Mile" on your right.
Start hydrating and include some starchy carbs (not five pounds) in your prep. Whatever voodoo thing you do, vitamins, crystals, lighting candles (we'll have extras), take care of it. It's time to strap it on and get to work. We'll have electrolyte replacement drink for you after your workouts and we can hook you up with local stores and
resources if you need anything else.
Ahhhh so now you know the WODs for Saturday at the Games. A Fran with super strict standards (nice surprise!), and a 5 round WOD of 5 DL's (275# gents/185# women) and 10... Burpees!!! Then a Hill Run of 750m. Done in hopefully the order you request, with several hours in between each event. What will they spring on Sunday?!?!
Let's have some fun people! We hope to represent you all well.
We will be closed from Friday morning until Monday evening. We'll have workouts on Monday evening so don't get too rested!
As for today:
With a continuously running clock do one pull-up the first minute, two pull-ups the second minute, three pull-ups the third minute... continuing as long as you are able.
If you're going to the Games, have some light starchy carbs with little fat or protein through today and tomorrow. Don't go too heavy. And DON't be caught working out!
Hey we're not nervous or anything... It's only 7:20am and we've already had three calls on what we'll be doing at 1800 when the Games information is posted. Now go do an easy Two Mile Run and chill.
If you want to come by the HOUSE at 1800 we will have three or four computers up with good access. Wherever you are, please get on line EARLY and put in for your slots. It looks like a first-come-first-served deal with the sign ups so jam 'em in ASAP!
Then call us and let us know what you're signed up for. Hopefully they'll post the actual heat times before the games. If not, we'll have to see what we get at the Rancho del Castro.
And be glad you're tapering, look at today's craziness! Key word here, modify if you need to in order to keep that decent form.
Five rounds for time of:
135 pound Deadlift, 15 reps
135 pound Hang power clean, 12 reps
135 pound Front Squat, 9 reps
135 pound Push Jerk, 6 reps
Pace the work, watch the form, be safe.
And we want to thank Kelsey for being so patriotic....
If you're going to the games, don't even show unless you're gonna do just one third of this WOD. You should only be stretching and going to Jo for a massage. No messing around; we're done hitting it. Tomorrow an easy run, Thursday and Friday nada, nothing. Focus on decent protein, some clean carbs (a little starch is ok) and good water.
As for you other heavy hitters...
Shoulder press 1-1-1-1-1 reps
Push press 3-3-3-3-3 reps
Push Jerk 5-5-5-5-5 reps
Really watch your weights on this. You shouldn't be making huge changes on the weight as you switch lifts. Do try to go as heavy as you safely can though.
Last of the 100!!! Long live the Burbee! Yeah whatever...
Knock 'em out people. If you owe less than 250, that's your WOD. Murph, you out there bro? Paresh, did you keep 'em going? You all worked extra on these and it has shown in the PR's. Good job.
For the rest of us today:
"Lynne"
Five rounds for max reps of:
Body weight bench press
Pull-ups
So goes the taper for the games.
Here Brent, Steve and Kelsey show off that awesome Burpee form at CF Laguna Beach on Saturday. That was a great time and we thank you guys for coming down.
